Forms 04:29
When I was young I was standing out in the hall Singing I'll be where you're wrong Singing I'll be where you're wrong My only song Lasted seven years on its own Walking backwards as I go Walking backwards as I go Down the line I don't feel the weight at all I don't feel the weight at all When I was found I was standing on solid ground Paper ocean gathered round Paper ocean gathered round My outline skin Pushes outward and holds me in Something shapeless, smile thin Something shapeless, smile thin How do I know you? Can you see this through? I don't feel the weight at all I don't feel the weight at all So out of form I don't know where to go (x2) And I don't I'm so out of form I don't know where to call home (x3) Don't know where to call home (x3)

Ricochet 03:25
Whatchu want me to say to you? Slipping right out the door in front of you Whatchu want me to say to you? Small eye of the storm in powder blue Little spark I started to follow Burning the floor of tomorrow, aren't you? Whatchu want me to say to you? Slow down, slow down I've been seeing a rise In the color behind your eyes Separated to try Making up for what I've passed by You go And I ricochet What do we owe now That we can't replace (x3)

Seventeen 04:11
The plan was right but the feeling's gone Empty apartments with the lights on Tell me the days you want to remember Time we borrow broke (x2) The night was long In our winter coats Sitting in silence in our snow globe How many ways to be contented Time we borrow broke (x2) Stay with me Stay with me As the tide comes in Stay with me Stay with me As the tide comes in Over us My shaking foot Your dancing hands Pour-over coffee on the nightstand Eager to fall the way we used to You're always gentle with this one I want to see you rise again Some days are better than this one I want to see you here again You're always gentle with this one I want to see you here some Time we borrow broke (x2) Stay with me Stay with me As the tide comes in Stay with me Stay with me As the tide comes in Over us

Suddenly 05:02
You ask me to wake you Dead of the winter Ice in the pit of the well And crawling the sea Suddenly We saw from the window Medium light The steam rising up from the tea It drifted to me Suddenly We try (x4) Debate (x4) Suddenly Retry (x4) Create (x4) Suddenly Blindly Guide me Kindly Guide me We drove on and over Bottomless hills The silent white pillowing down It turned into sheets Suddenly We saw from the window Quickening tide And stalled on the side of the street We drifted to sleep Suddenly We try (x4) Debate (x4) Suddenly Retry (x4) Create (x4) Suddenly Blindly Guide me Kindly Guide me

about

Forms is Moss Ives's debut EP, exploring themes of transition and self-identification as relationships to others change. Written across several years while living in Boston, MA and recorded in the month before moving away, this EP is closely tied to the city and represents some of the different personal forms Moss Ives inhabited during his time there.

The song arrangements have had their own transformations: each track was originally written and performed around Boston as a solo live looping arrangement before being developed with the help of drummer Chris O'Connell into the full band versions here.
